Experience

Stuart is a highly skilled training programme designer whose experience is grounded in the retail and the not-for profit sector.   With a degree in Human Resources development Stuart’s ability to create an innovative organisation development programme for an organisation is second to none.

Stuart has 30 years of experience much of which is contained in his book “It’s not about the coach”.  This book turns coaching around on its head and looks at organisational coaching from the point of view of the coachee first.  Additionally, as the co-creator of ‘Embark’ the worlds only tool designed to measure and assess organisational coaching culture.  His in-depth knowledge of organisational development has led him to support the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in developing training programmes for them.

Stuart is a coach, facilitator, consultant and author. Working with individuals, teams and organisations he specialises in - experiential learning, optimal performance/flow states, authenticity and coachability.

Expertise

When he was 16 his family set up an outdoor activity centre, so at an early age he was lucky enough to discover his passion for developing people. Stuart was also competing in sport at a national level, which fuelled his interest in optimal performance and flow states.

Working across all industry sectors typical assignments (from middle management to board level) include leadership, coaching, optimal performance and culture development. Programme (face to face and online) design, delivery, management and evaluation. Stuart co-developed the Embark Coaching Culture Diagnostic - a world first in coaching culture change.

In 2013 he published his first book - It’s Not About The Coach: getting the most from coaching in business, sport and life. A unique angle on coaching inspiring the coachee to make informed choices about coaching, discover readiness for learning and develop the values required for success.

Stuart’s style

Stuart has an innate ability to open up unique perspectives and is trained in ontological (an inquiry into being) and narrative (privileges individual stories and personal experience) approaches.

Qualifications

In 2005 Stuart graduated from London South Bank University with an MSc in Human Resources & Development (dissertation - ‘What is the Impact of Developing Internal Coaches - A case study Selfridges & Co.’)

I connected with my coach on our very first call and I believe that made the whole difference for me. I wish I could dig deeper on some of my remaining issues but unfortunately all good things have to end. I will definitely recommend coaching and have been already doing it for while. It definitely changed my life.

Tim has provided some high quality coaching support to me through a time of transition both in terms of job, career and organisational changes. He is a skilled and experienced executive coach who facilitated just the right mix of reflection, future visioning, challenge, compassion and stretch. I’d strongly recommend working with him if you are going through a career or organisation transition. Fun to work with, I always left my sessions with him feeling significantly clearer and more content with my overall direction of travel and next steps.

“I selected my coach on the basis that she had a completely different approach to my structured way of thinking. Katherine challenged me and took me way out of my comfort zone – scary and uncomfortable at times but eye-opening. These coaching sessions enabled me to see things from a very different perspective, gave me the time and space to reflect on my practice and provided practical tips and approaches as to how I can develop my performance.”

Everyone learnt a lot about themselves and others. It was the first training in English that one of my mentors had done and it was really successful for him. We have all come away feeling more confident. I have been on many development programmes and I have to say it has been one of the best I have ever attended.
