Challenge
Jon has started a web design agency, it was his first business and he was a few months in. Things were good and Jon was taking on people to manage a growing workload of client requirements. Like many early businesses Jon was looking at classic early business issues such as managing cash, getting the right people on the bus, building processes and, most importantly of all, getting the business model right to support the vision.
Jon was becoming aware that he didn’t have all the skills required to make this work, he was struggling with all his new ideas and how to control them.
Jon needed help to build on his strengths and develop ways of using other people to complement his skills and support the business as it grows.
Solution
Jon’s requirement was clearly split into two separate areas,
Personal development
Development of the business
To meet each of these requirements two solutions were used, these programmes were designed to be interlinked.
Personal development
Jon was provided with an executive coach, one that had the experience of starting their own business and making it work. A coach that was able to sit alongside Jon for 2 hours per month and support and guide him in making the decisions that were going to support business growth and development.
Bsed on The E-myth concept Jon was challenged on the developing three elements of himself
The entrepreneur
The manager
The technician
The coaching intervention also worked on getting Jon ready for running a growing business
Business Development
Jon joined his local Ultimate CEO group, this is a group formed of MDs and CEOs of companies of all sizes. Designed to support all the members, share ideas and give advice so that all the members of the group can develop their businesses.
Jon was able to present his issues to the group at the monthly meetings and get their advice on ways he may tackle things. This gave Jon both a lot of business information and also a lot of support.
Jon was also able to get business as a result of being part of this group.
Results
Jon’s business has grown ever since he has been involved in the coaching and CEO group. Having made big changes to his business model and the way he approaches his work life on the basis of his time with Unlimited Potential.
Jon is now a better business person and more equipped to deal with business life. So much so that the latest issue with his business is funding the amazing growth that is taking place. As a more confident individual getting the money to do this has not been a problem.
Jon says “ The coach without doubt has transformed my approach to business and I can see clearly when the group have contributed to me and growth comes rapidly afterwards.”
